La investigación cuyos resultados presentamos nos permitió adentramos en el conoci- miento del delito de trata de personas en Venezuela en la actualidad, en concreto so- bre los modos de captación, transporte, traslado, acogida o recepción de personas, especialmente de niños, niñas y adolescentes, con fines de explotación, en condiciones de limitación de la libertad de las víctimas; a través de la perspectiva de funcionarios públicos, miembros de organizaciones no gubernamentales (ONG) y periodistas, que en virtud de su trabajo conocían sobre la trata de personas en nuestro país.

Objectives: Evidence showed that the prevalence of sexual violence during the whole human trafficking period was high. However, the distribution of sexual violence along the stages of the trafficking cycle is unclear. This study aimed to determine the prevalence of sexual violence at each stage of trafficking and factors associated with it among Ethiopian trafficked females. Design: A retrospective cohort study was conducted to study trafficking returnees regarding their previous experiences at each stage of trafficking. Settings: Data were collected at immigration offices in three border towns of Ethiopia located bordering Sudan, Kenya and Djibouti. Participants: Six hundred and seventy-one women who were trafficked from Ethiopia were recruited into the study consecutively. They were recruited when they came back home via the three border towns either by deportation or voluntary return. Outcome measure: The outcome variable was sexual violence.

Background: Trafficking is a crime of global proportions involving extreme forms of exploitation and abuse. Yet little research has been done of the health risks and morbidity patterns for men, women, and children trafficked for various forms of forced labour. Methods: We carried out face-to-face interviews with a consecutive sample of individuals entering 15 post-trafficking services in Cambodia, Thailand, and Vietnam. We asked participants about living and working conditions, experience of violence, and health outcomes. We measured symptoms of anxiety and depression with the Hopkins Symptoms Checklist and post-traumatic stress disorder with the Harvard Trauma Questionnaire and used adjusted logistic regression models to estimate the effect of trafficking on these mental health outcomes, controlling for age, sector of exploitation, and time in trafficking.

The overall objective of this pilot project is to contribute to the efforts of the government of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan to enhance its institutional capacities to combat trafficking in children through the development of comprehensive and integrated activities promoting prevention measures of this phenomenon, protection of victims and prosecution of traffickers. The comprehensive nature of this Programme is in direct response to the Government’s expressed interest and request to IOM to provide assistance in the prevention of trafficking, protection of victims of trafficking and prosecution of traffickers in Afghanistan. This initiative will pursue these objectives through a preliminary action-research phase that will provide the necessary insight on the phenomenon of child trafficking in/from Afghanistan in order to better tailor and target the consequent project components.

Since August 2017, an estimated 745,000 Rohingya have fled Myanmar by crossing the border into Cox’s Bazar, Bangladesh. While it was not the first time the Rohingya people were forced to seek refuge in Bangladesh, the recent influx is the largest. In the 2019 Joint Response Plan, it was recognized that the Rohingya humanitarian crisis had socio-economic implications for the Bangladeshi host communities, increasing living costs, demand over water, firewood and other scarce resources while decreasing the livelihood of local skilled and unskilled laborers. From the 1.2 million people considered in need of humanitarian assistance in the Response Plan, nearly one third (27%) were crisis affected populations in host communities. That is the equivalent of 335,900 people in the Bangladeshi host communities.
